Defense Services Asia 2012

Russian Helicopters, a leading global designer and manufacturer of helicopters, and producer of some of the world’s most iconic, innovative and widely operated models, will participate in the international exhibition and conference Defense Services Asia 2012 (DSA 2012), which will take place 16-19 April 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at Putra World Trade Centre. At the exhibition Russian Helicopters will present the new Ansat and Ka-226T multi-purpose light helicopters. Russian Helicopters’ exhibit will be located in Hall 5 at Stand 5072.

The Ansat is a civilian helicopter with a maximum take-off weight of 3.3 tonnes and has a 9-person passenger capacity (plus 1-person crew). The helicopter’s key advantages are its simple piloting, in-flight safety, low environmental impact and superior fuel efficiency. The Ansat comes in a variety of configurations for use by transport and cargo companies, medical and emergency services as well as police and other law-enforcement agencies. Upon the client’s request the helicopter can be equipped with the latest fly by wire technologies, or with the classic hydraulic control system. Powered by a dual-engine system, the aircraft boasts excellent in flight performance.

The second helicopter highlighted at the exhibit – the Ka-226T – is Russian Helicopters latest aircraft using the coaxial (dual-rotor) rotor system, using the French-made Arrius 2G1 engines (Turbomeca) and Russian-made VR-226N gearbox. This is the first model in which Arrius engines have been used in coaxial rotor system. This technical solution provides the Ka-226T with unprecedented flight safety: even in the case of the technical failure of one engine, the helicopter still has more than sufficient power (up to 750 hp) to maneuver. The cutting-edge rotor power system combined with a special reinforced fuel-supply system and energy-absorbing seats make this helicopter one of the most environmentally friendly and safest in its class. The Ka-226T’s range of features and capabilities mean it can be used for a broad range of potential applications: in difficult to access and high-elevation localities, in hot climates and in naval missions, as well as in urban conditions such as skyscraper construction and gusty wind situations.

Visitors to the Russian Helicopters exhibit stand will have the opportunity to learn about all Russian-produced helicopter models, which span a broad range of missions and capabilities.

As one of the top five defence and security exhibitions in the world, DSA is conducted with the support with the support of the Ministry of Defence of Malaysia and the Royal Malaysia Police once every two years, attracting the attention of the leading manufacturers and contractors of military equipment and armaments worldwide. More than 700 companies from 40 countries regularly take part in the exhibition. In 2010 the DSA welcomed 25,000 specialists from 60 countries worldwide, including 200 official delegations from 30 countries.
